Support ForestWatch Through Your IRA!

If you are 70 1/2 or older, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA is a great way to support Los Padres ForestWatch. This charitable gift option was made permanent by the IRS in 2015. Contributing from your IRA to ForestWatch is an easy way to reduce your tax burden and make a significant gift to protect the Los Padres National Forest.

Each year, the IRS requires those 70 1/2 years of age or older to withdraw a required minimum distribution from their IRA, and pay income tax on the distribution. Gifts made from your IRA (up to $100,000 per year) are not subject to income tax and qualify toward your required minimum distribution. This can result in a significant tax benefit, and best of all, it’s an easy way to support our local conservation work.

Simply contact your IRA administrator to learn how you can further the work of ForestWatch while enjoying meaningful tax benefits.

What People Say

Los Padres ForestWatch is a fantastic organization that effectively supports and protects one of our most treasured resources. They protect the backyard of Santa Barbara County in a multitude of ways and are excellent at educating and mobilizing the public about our present and future issues. We always love to attend their educational and motivational events and seminars as volunteers and as supportive, involved members of our community.
