Our treasured public lands provide habitat for wildlife, conserve our natural heritage, and allow us to get out and explore incredible wild lands throughout the country. Because we hold these lands so dear to our hearts, we have to fight to make sure they stay protected.

In 2017, the political climate in Washington, D.C. abruptly changed with the beginning of a new Trump presidency and a Congress willing to sell off our public lands and let industries like oil and gas degrade them for their own profit.

This may be the beginning of a new anti-public lands agenda, but it is not the end of our fight to save these wild places. In fact, we are more ready than ever to take on those who wish to trade away our public lands for private gain. We have created Keep Our Forests Great!, an action plan for facing these new — and sometimes familiar — challenges. Find out what we are doing and how you can help!

What People Say

I work with the LPFW team through 1% for the Planet. LPFW is an approved nonprofit partner in excellent standing. My role at 1% for the Planet is to advise our members—both businesses and individuals—on giving strategies. I often recommend LPFW as a fantastic regional partner for our members on the central coast. I’m particularly impressed with LPFW’s ability to track ongoing policy issues, rally the community, and take action as needed.
