Webinar Recording Now Available: Manzanitas of the Central Coast

1 min read

With 19 different species and subspecies found in the Los Padres National Forest alone, it’s safe to say that we here at ForestWatch are big fans of California’s most diverse woody plant genus (Arctostaphylos). That’s why we feel lucky to have hosted renowned ecologist and manzanita expert, Dr. Tom Parker, during a recent webinar where he gave a fascinating presentation about manzanita diversity in the Central Coast region. Dr. Parker has studied manzanita diversity, ecology, and evolution for the last four decades. He is Professor Emeritus at San Francisco State University, where he conducted research and taught students for 40 years. Dr. Parker has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and is the co-author of Field Guide to Manzanitas.
