Helena is a graduate from the UC Santa Barbara Class of 2026 with a B.S. in Environmental Studies. She is passionate about conservation planning, with a special focus on wildlife coexistence, urban ecology, and environmental justice. Her background includes assisting with research at UCSB on large-scale restoration at Dangermond preserve and working with native plants in a restoration and greenhouse setting.
As a Room to Roam intern she conducts road surveys to collect data on wildlife crossings. By mapping optimal crossing sites she hopes to inform policy and infrastructure that will increase wildlife connectivity and foster coexistence.
She is drawn to Los Padres National Forest for its hiking trails, creeks, and many opportunities to view California’s unique and diverse wildlife. When she’s not outside, she likes to play piano, read, and occasionally learn a new line dance.
