Carlo has a varied background that includes native plant restoration, citizen science, outdoor education, and wildlife monitoring. He obtained his B.S. in Environmental Science from UC Santa Barbara. Soon afterwards, he began his career as a restoration ecologist at the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity, where he helped restore native habitat around Santa Barbara County. Most recently, Carlo was the Land Programs Coordinator at The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County, where he designed and implemented public programming aimed at connecting people to the outdoors, as well as working with landowners on monitoring dozens of properties under permanent conservation.
As the new Wildlife Program Coordinator, he now oversees ForestWatch’s Room to Roam program, which will address wildlife conflicts along the Central Coast through citizen science, informing policy, outreach to diverse audiences, and education on wildlife issues. On his free time, Carlo enjoys spending time on our beautiful trails, learning about native plants, all things bugs and insects, and spending time with his cat.
