Matthew is an environmental and civil litigation attorney who graduated magna cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, OR. During his time at Lewis & Clark, Matthew clerked for multiple public interest organizations and served as a student board member for the Northwest Environmental Defense Center. He also represented Lewis & Clark as part of a team that took first place in the National Environmental Moot Court Competition, the largest inter-law school moot court competition in the country.
Most recently, Matthew worked with the Environmental Defense Center—first as a legal fellow, and later as a staff attorney and Environmental Justice Program Coordinator—where he litigated cases and worked with frontline communities. He is deeply committed to legal and grassroots solutions to protect natural systems and combat environmental injustice.
Matthew is also the founder and attorney advisor to the UCSB Environmental Law Club and is devoted to educating the next generation of advocates. In his free time, he enjoys reading, fishing, playing poker, and spending time with his family.
