Taylor Platz

Taylor is a fourth-year student at UC Santa Barbara pursuing a B.S. in Ocean Science and a certificate in Technology Management. She loves all things outdoors and is passionate about education, research, and conservation. As an Event Management Intern at ForestWatch, Taylor helps organize events like Wilderness Table, and supports educational programs such as the Forest Academy series.

Outside of ForestWatch, Taylor is a scientific diver with the Caselle Lab at UCSB, where she helps monitor marine protected areas, and serves as a drone pilot with the Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory’s SharkEye program, tracking sharks along the coast. She also co-hosts The Environment of It All, a podcast that interviews environmental researchers to help bridge the gap between research and the public.

Taylor especially loves working with kids and leads programs with Sea League and Tide Pool School, where she strives to give young people experiences in nature that foster connection and curiosity. In her free time, she loves to surf, backpack, and spend time in the sunshine any way she can.
